VSE AAJTAK : The Insider News

Today Amit singh has hosted a pizza party to the team mates before he left for the airport. He would be reaching Ottawa by Sunday morning(India time). He would be replacing Saloni Singh, who is expected to be back to India next month. Last week Gaurav Chauhan travelled to ottawa. He is representing the Blade Intro team there.

Many associates were busy with appraisal process. While most of the team members are waiting for the H1appraisal, some guys are waiting for their confirmation rating. This time most of the guys getting confirmed are not happy with the rating given. Inspite of having discussions with their PL, they didnt find any relief.

Farewell to PONNS

Ponnusamy left the team pursuing his career in Bangalore. He along with Prabhu, who would be leaving the team soon, have hosted a wonderfull party at the Urban Tadka Reastaurant in Kandivali East. This was the first time almost thirty team mates were seen together in a private party. Gayatri organised a grand farewell for his team mate today.

GET WELL SOON

Working on the CRs.... Bringing up the lab....Attending meetings.....
doing all this regular routine....Finally...One day......
Trupti Shankar Nayak fainted this weekend returning home after tedious lab shift. He is now recovering and getting back to normal health at an infamous hospital in Borivali.

While we celebrate the first anniversary of the team, its also worth to note that the work pressure and the responsibilties are also on the rise, which when not properly dealt may result in similar unusual, unavoidable and unwanted situation.

VSE TEAM wishes Trupti shankar Nayak to get well soon...........!!!

BirthDay Boys Party:

“Live For Today...Plan For Tomorrow...Party Tonight..!!!”

Last Friday, there was a Party combinedly hosted by the guys who recently celebrated their Birthdays in the month of August. The venue was All Seasons Restaurant, Kandivaili-East. Sixteen Youngsters from our team partied till late night (or say early morning??) . They quickly emptied Two and half bottles of Daaru, before they could shift their venue to sanjog Restaurant ad continue boozing. Though, not everyone were present at the second venue, most of them exceeded their stamina and were seen in trouble the whole night. The Total bill paid , however was around sixteen K.

"Like other parties of the kind, it was first silent, then talky, then argumentative, then disputatious, then unintelligible, then altogether, then inarticulate, and then drunk. When we had reached the last step of this glorious ladder, it was difficult to get down again without stumbling." - George Gordon Byron

We welcome Comments and feedback!!!

Busy @ Work

Once upon a time a very strong woodcutter ask for a job in a timber merchant, and he got it. The paid was really good and so were the work conditions. For that reason, the woodcutter was determined to do his best.

His boss gave him an axe and showed him the area where he was supposed to work.
The first day, the woodcutter brought 18 trees
"Congratulations," the boss said. "Go on that way!"

Very motivated for the boss’ words, the woodcutter try harder the next day, but he only could bring 15 trees. The third day he try even harder, but he only could bring 10 trees.Day after day he was bringing less and less trees.

"I must be losing my strength", the woodcutter thought. He went to the boss and apologized, saying that he could not understand what was going on.

"When was the last time you sharpened your axe?" the boss asked.
"Sharpen? I had no time to sharpen my axe. I have been very busy trying to cut trees..."

Today is Teachers Day

"Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu
Guru devo Maheshwaraha
Gurussaakshaath param brahma
tasmai shree gurave namaha"

"The Guru (Teacher) is the Lord Brahma (the Creator), the Guru is the Lord Vishnu (the Preserver), the Guru is the Lord Shiva (the Destroyer). To that Guru we offer our salutations."

Teachers mould the lives that they influence. Lessons learned from teachers remain with their students throughout life. Teachers that break down barriers and reach into the souls of the students that they are responsible for do not get the recognition or gratitude they have earned. Many teachers are exhausted from their workload and responsibilities. They have their own families, financial and life stresses that challenge them along with everyone else. We should always respect our teachers. Teachers need encouragement and support from the community to feel that their devotion to students is appreciated.

Socrates was an example of a good teacher. He considered himself a learner as well as a teacher. For Socrates, love and friendship were the proper contexts for the pursuit of wisdom and goodness. Socrates saw himself only as a catalyst. He felt it was not his teaching, but actually the power of the Divine which enabled the person he was talking with to improve himself.

In India 5th September is celebrated as Teachers' day. 5th September is the birthday of a great teacher Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. When Dr. Radhakrishnan became the president of India in 1962, some of his students and friends approached him and requested him to allow them to celebrate 5th September, his "birthday". In reply, Dr, Radhakrishnan said, "instead of celebrating my birthday separately, it would be my proud privilege if September 5 is observed as Teachers' day". The request showed Dr.Radhakrishnan's love for the teaching profession. From then onwards, the day has been observed as Teachers' Day in India.

Here are some facts about the Indian flag :

The flag of India is also called Tiranga, or Tricolor

The description of the Indian Flag is as follows:
Three three equal horizontal bands of saffron, subdued orange, (top), white, and green
A blue chakra (24-spooked wheel) centered in the white band
According to Ancient and Heraldic traditions much symbolism is associated with colors. The colors on the Indian flag represent the following:
Saffron - a symbol of courage
White - peace and honesty
Blue - vigilance, truth and loyalty, perseverance & justice
Green - hope, joy , fertility and love and in many cultures have a sacred significance
The basic style shown in the picture of the Indian flag is described as Emblem -reflecting the central design of the flag pattern
All Flag pictures depict flags flying, from the viewer's point of view, from left to right
The shape and flag ratio of the Indian flag is described as 2:3 ( length 1½ times the height )
The emblem on the Indian flag pictures a blue chakra (24-spooked wheel)
The Meaning & History of the Indian Flag
The Indian emblem depicts the blue Ashoka Chakra - the "wheel of the law"
The Chakra was based on the emblem of the 3rd century Mauryan emperor, Ashoka
The 24 spokes of the wheel signifies 24 hours and progress every hour
The Indian flag was designed by a freedom fighter called Pingali Venkayya
The Indian flag was adopted on July 22, 1947 and symbolizes freedom

L E M O N J U I C E

This Story was sent by a PL to his team members, Recently.

The local bar was so sure that its bartender was the strongest man around that they offered a Rs 10,000 bet. The bartender would squeeze a lemon until all the juice ran into a glass, and hand the lemon to a patron. Anyone who could squeeze one more drop of juice out would win the money. Many people like weight-lifters, wrestlers, body builders, etc had tried over time, but nobody could do it.

One day this scrawny little man came in, wearing thick glasses and a safari suit, and said in a tiny, squeaky voice, "I'd like to try the bet." After the laughter had died down, the bartender said OK, grabbed a lemon, and squeezed away. Then he handed the wrinkled remains of the
rind to the little man.

But the ! crowd's laughter turned to total silence as the man clenched his fist around the lemon and 5-6 drops fell into the glass. As the crowd cheered, the bartender paid the Rs 10,000, and asked the little man, "What do you do for a living? Are you a lumberjack, a weight-lifter, or what?"

"No," replied the man.

"I work as a project manager in a software company ! ! "

World Environment Day

Today is World Environment Day.Every 5th of June is a day used by the United Nations to stimulate worldwide awareness of environmental issues and encourages political action. The topic for World Environment Day for 2007 is "Melting Ice – a Hot Topic?" During International Polar Year, WED 2007 focuses on the effects that climate change is having on polar ecosystems and communities, on other ice- and snow-covered areas of the world, and the resulting global impacts.

The theme of this year's World Environment Day is Melting Ice - the process by which the ice caps at the poles of the earth are melting. This is s slow but steady process whose ultimate result will be a drastic rise in the percentage of water in the earth's ecosphere, causing a flood that will leave one wishing for Noah's Ark! Global Warming plays an integral role in escalating this dangerous process, environmental pollution being the backbone of Global Warming.

Starting this World Environment Day, lets Play our Role in spreading the awareness about Global Warming and environmental pollution, by cutting down on activities that add to the toxins that are killing our ozone layer and endangering the life of every single inhabitant on Earth.

This weekend two offshore guys started their journey to onsite, marking the beginning of the second season of onsite team. RR and VJ reached Ottawa at Sunday evening EDT. SP would be starting his journey this Tuesday and would celebrate his return on Thursday at the offshore.

When the first team to onsite was about to travel, it was "AK" who resigned. He was none other than Mr. Amit Kulkarni. When the second team to onsite is about to start, one more "AK" resigned. This time it's Mr. Kalra, who is leaving to pursue his Management Degree. While the team still has good number of AK's ....any guess who will be the next to follow.

VSE Aaj Tak : The Insider News

Last Thursay, it was Mr.Kalra's turn to host a Daaru party, as he successfully secured his way into the IIT's Management College. The venue was again the same suburban Mumbai joint. While the host spent heavily for his friends, he didn't even had a drink. Mr. Sahu was the other guy, who even after repeated requests refused to have a sip and warned others that he wont attend these kinda parties in future, if he is forced for the drink. Most of the team members attended the party which lasted till late night. When the Restaurant doors were closed at around 2am, they shifted themselves to another Restaurant near Sanjay Gandhi National Park to continue their drinks till early hours of Friday. Hmmm... Precious moments last forever.

Bhaagh gayaaa Bichaara....: The PL who was on a summer break for the last two weeks, joined back yesterday and was shocked by finding that one of his team member went out MISSING. It was none other than Agraharm shiva Reddy, the new guy in the new domain SUCC, who had abandoned VSE. It was rather surprising to know that he stopped coming to office since last two weeks, and there was neither official nor unofficial communication from his side. Many of us may not recollect who this guy is, but he was the guy who worked for NGW for few days before joining the new domain. Any way VSETEAM wishes this Guy all the Best for his future plans.

VSE Aaj Tak : The Insider News

long weekend for Onsite guys : This weekend the onsite guys planning their return journey to Mumbai were busy shopping their goodies at popular shopping malls in Ottawa. Most of them were seen shopping at Lincoln fields, The Carlingwood mall, Rideau centre and of course Bayshore. Though it was a long weekend, Monday being 'the Victoria Day', most of the stores remained closed. Victoria Day is a Canadian holiday celebrated on the last Monday before or on May 24 in honour of both Queen Victoria's birthday and the current reigning Canadian Sovereign's birthday.

Ponns would reach Mumbai by tomorrow. He would be the first among the current onsite team to go back home. The others would follow starting June first week.

....This Wednesday there was a Daaru party hosted by a ML in a suburban Mumbai joint. People who attended had utilised the occasion to quench their thirst and returned him a stunning 5 digits heavy bill. Luckily the Restaurant provided some relief by offering a special discount, which reduced the bill to a four digits. Some of them drunk so heavily that the others had a tough time carrying them to their home. There was this invitation from this ML with a disclaimer that "non-drinkers please excuse ", but after hearing about the generosity of the ML, many people say that they missed the chance.... Better luck next time !!!
